Factory Automation : Feature and Product Focus
Is Industry Ready for Operational Real-Time Wireless Control?
Radio frequency and sometimes microwave wireless products are used increasingly in industrial control applications. According to a recent market study by Venture Development Corp. (VDC), a large percentage of those using wireless technology in industrial applications are applying it to control applications, or both control and monitoring. Further analysis reveals that the identified control applications are largely in setup and maintenance and that reliability concerns are inhibiting adoption for operational real-time use.
